Privacy
What we hold, and what we do not.
Sillplate is used inside other people’s homes. Almost everything it records belongs to somebody who is not our customer, so this page is written to be read rather than to protect us.
What the app collects
- Your account: email address and password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
- Your practice: name, company, telephone number, province, licence number and logo. These print on your reports.
- Inspection content: property addresses, client names, photographs, your dictated notes and the findings written from them.
- Billing: subscription status and the identifier Stripe gives your customer record.
Speech
Dictation is recognised on the device where your iPhone supports it, which is most of the time. Where it cannot, iOS falls back to Apple’s speech recognition and the audio is handled under Apple’s privacy policy.
We never receive or store audio. What reaches us is text.
How findings get written
To turn what you said into report language, the text of that sentence is sent to a third party model provider. Photographs are never sent. Client names and email addresses are never sent. What goes is the sentence you spoke and the name of the component it concerns.
Our providers are contractually barred from training on it. If you would rather nothing left our servers at all, say so and we will turn composition off for your account: the app falls back to matching your own saved wording and works offline.
Where it is stored
Inspection data and photographs are held in Canada. Everything is encrypted in transit, and each account’s data is separated at the database level rather than by application code, so one inspector’s work cannot be read by another even if our own code is wrong.
Report links
A report you share opens through a link containing a token. Anyone holding that link can read that one report and nothing else. Treat it as you would the report itself, and tell us if one needs revoking.
Payments
Payment is processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe’s own checkout and are never seen, handled or stored by us.
What we do not do
- We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
- We do not use one customer’s inspections to build anything for another.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Keeping and deleting
Inspection records are kept while your account is open, and after you cancel, because a signed report is a professional record you may need years later and deleting it would not be doing you a favour.
You can delete your account from inside the app, under Profile, at any time. It removes your inspections, photographs and signed reports from your devices and from our servers, and cancels any subscription. It cannot be undone, so download anything you still need first. You can also ask us and we will do it for you within thirty days. Where a report has already been sent to a client, tell us and we will revoke its link.
Children
Sillplate is a tool for professional home inspectors and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that affects what we collect or who sees it, we will email you rather than quietly reposting it.
